Getting Started
What is Conto Billing?
Conto Billing is an easy-to-use interface for managing Stripe billing. It connects to your existing Stripe account and gives you a simpler way to create invoices, manage subscriptions, and charge customers—without navigating Stripe's complex dashboard.
How do I connect my Stripe account?
Sign up for Conto Billing and click 'Connect Stripe'. You'll be redirected to Stripe to authorize the connection using Stripe Connect (OAuth). The whole process takes about 60 seconds. No API keys to copy—it's all handled securely through Stripe's official integration.
Do I need an existing Stripe account?
Yes. Conto Billing works with your existing Stripe account. If you don't have one, you can create a free Stripe account at stripe.com, then connect it to Conto Billing.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. You get a 7-day free trial when you sign up. No credit card required. Connect your Stripe account and try all features risk-free.
How long does setup take?
Most users are up and running in under 5 minutes. Connect your Stripe account (60 seconds), import your existing customers (automatic), and start billing. If you have existing Stripe data, it syncs automatically.
Stripe Integration
Does Conto Billing replace Stripe?
No. Conto Billing is a UI layer on top of Stripe. Stripe still processes all your payments—we just give you an easier interface for day-to-day billing operations. Your Stripe account, rates, and data remain unchanged.
Will my Stripe processing rates change?
No. Your Stripe processing fees are exactly the same. Stripe bills you directly for payment processing. Conto Billing charges a separate monthly subscription fee for the software.
Can I still use the Stripe Dashboard?
Yes. You can use both Conto Billing and the Stripe Dashboard. Changes sync automatically between both. Use Stripe for payouts, account settings, and advanced features. Use Conto for daily billing tasks.
What Stripe data does Conto access?
Conto accesses customers, invoices, subscriptions, payment methods, and products in your Stripe account—the data needed for billing operations. We don't access your bank account, payout settings, or Stripe account credentials.
Can I disconnect Conto from Stripe?
Yes, anytime. Go to your Stripe Dashboard → Settings → Connect accounts, and revoke access. Your Stripe account and data remain exactly as they were. There's no lock-in.
Does data sync between Conto and Stripe?
Yes. Changes made in either Conto or Stripe sync automatically. Create an invoice in Conto—it appears in Stripe. Cancel a subscription in Stripe—it updates in Conto.
Pricing & Billing
How much does Conto Billing cost?
Conto Billing has three plans based on customer count: Starter ($39/month for up to 50 customers), Growth ($79/month for up to 150 customers), and Professional ($129/month for up to 300 customers). All plans include unlimited team members and all features. For more than 300 customers, contact us.
What counts as a 'customer'?
A customer is anyone with a customer record in your Stripe account that you're managing through Conto. This includes customers with active subscriptions, open invoices, or saved payment methods. Archived or deleted customers don't count.
Are there any additional fees?
No hidden fees. The monthly subscription is all-inclusive for Conto Billing features. You'll still pay Stripe's standard processing fees (2.9% + 30¢ per transaction in the US), but those go directly to Stripe—not us.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes. You can change plans anytime from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards through Stripe. Yes, we use Stripe for our own billing—we eat our own cooking.
Is there an annual discount?
Contact us for annual pricing. We offer discounts for annual commitments.
Features
What can I do with Conto Billing?
Create and send invoices, set up recurring subscriptions, charge saved cards with one click, manage customers, track payments, send payment reminders, add credit card surcharges, manage team access, and view audit logs. Basically, everything you need for day-to-day billing.
Can I charge customers' saved cards?
Yes. If a customer has a payment method on file in Stripe, you can charge them with one click in Conto. Enter the amount, add an optional description, and charge. They'll receive a receipt automatically.
Does Conto support recurring subscriptions?
Yes. Create subscriptions with any billing frequency (weekly, monthly, yearly, custom). Handle upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations. Proration is calculated automatically.
Can I send payment reminders?
Yes. Set up automatic payment reminders for overdue invoices, or send manual reminders with one click. Customize reminder timing and messaging.
Does Conto support credit card surcharges?
Yes. Enable surcharges to pass credit card fees to customers (where legally permitted). Set your surcharge percentage and it's applied automatically.
Can my team use Conto?
Yes. All plans include unlimited team members. Invite your staff to help with billing without giving them direct Stripe access. Set permissions to control what each team member can do.
Security & Data
Is Conto Billing secure?
Yes. We use Stripe Connect (OAuth) for authorization—we never see or store your Stripe credentials. All payment data stays in Stripe. We use industry-standard encryption for all data transmission.
Where is my data stored?
Payment data (cards, bank accounts) stays in Stripe—we never store it. We store operational metadata like audit logs, team member info, and preferences. This data is encrypted and stored securely.
Is Conto PCI compliant?
Payment card data is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI Level 1 certified. Conto never touches card numbers or sensitive payment data directly.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your Stripe account and all Stripe data remain unchanged. Conto operational data (audit logs, settings) is retained for 30 days after cancellation, then deleted. You can request immediate deletion.
Do you sell customer data?
No. We don't sell, share, or monetize your data in any way. Your customer data is yours.
